Bega Sports Complex
Castle Glazing ACT’s reach now extends well beyond the ACT. Over 200km from Castle's warehouse in Fyshwick, Castle completed the external glazing for the Bega Sports Complex on the NSW South Coast, a major regional project that showcases large-scale framing and glazing specified to the demands of the building.
The building's spectator-first design includes terrace seating spanning two elevations, an open concourse viewing area and enclosed indoor spaces, all of which placed real demands on the glazing envelope. Large-format sliding windows were used throughout to maximise natural light across the concourse and viewing areas, while maintaining thermal and acoustic performance.
Framing & Glazing Specifications
The scope included supply and installation of Capral elliptical operable aluminium louvres, paired with a selection of framing systems suited to the performance demands of each area.
Glass specification varied by thermal zone. Non-conditioned areas were fitted with 6.38mm clear laminated glazing, balancing performance and value where thermal load was less critical. Within the thermal envelope, argon-filled insulated glazing units, combining 6mm PH08 toughened and 6mm clear toughened glass, provided higher thermal efficiency.
The Bega Sports Complex provides local sporting clubs, athletes and supporters a purpose-built facility for sporting and community events. Delivering glazing took the technical range to match systems to the specific demands of each area across the building envelope, along with precision to get every measurement and every install right the first time.
